The Krate series of bicycles were introduced by Schwinn in 1968. Inspired by a 1960's dragster,
these Sting-Ray's had every available Schwinn gadget--rear shocks, a springer front end and a
stik-shifters. The 16-inch front wheel with a drum brake distinguished it from other Sting-Ray
bicycles. This bicycle was originally owned by Steve Greenman and his original receipt is featured on the following page. Even though Steve rode this bike many miles, as the odometer reading of 2195 attests, he took very good care of it. The rear tire is the only part that has been replaced.
