1868 Boneshaker |
Boneshaker's were the earliest pedal driven bicycles. This one has carriage style wood wheels and iron tires. The heavy iron frame and poor traction limited it's usefulness. During their brief popularity several American cities had indoor bicycle riding academies that seem to have filled the same role as the later skating rink. |
